Who We Are
FOODiversity, a Mooresville-based national nonprofit organization, was established in 2020 to lessen the burden of food insecurity for people with food allergy, celiac disease, and food intolerances.
1 in 10 adults have food allergies. 1 in 4 households are impacted by dietary restriction(s).
Dietary restrictions increase the risk for food insecurity.
FOODiversity:
● increases access to allergen-friendly foods and educational resources
● raises awareness
● Prevents hunger and medical emergencies/hospitalizations.
Within community resources that address food insecurity, those with food allergies, celiac disease, and food intolerances are often overlooked.
Many food allergy and celiac national support/advocacy organizations exist: however, intentional efforts are necessary to effectively bring these national resources to local levels, especially to our community's most underserved members.
What We Do
FOODiversity improves access to allergen-friendly foods and health education, with a mission to prevent hunger, nutritional deficiencies and medical emergencies BEFORE they happen.
We are a resource hub for food pantries, school nurses, and physicians, and a reliable source of nutrient-dense, safe food for community members in need.
