ICCU is gearing up to bring an evening of family fun and friendly competition to the county with the Derby in the ’Dell, a build-your-own cart race happening Thursday, November 7th. We welcome the community to come join the fun for FREE to cheer on creative teams and vote for their favorite as they put their handmade carts to the ultimate test of speed and design.
The event will be held at the Iredell County Fairgrounds in Troutman. Our volunteer support team will arrive at 3:00 PM as the Race Teams are arriving and getting their carts set up. Gates open to public at 4:00 PM and the race will begin at 6:00 PM. We will be providing hot dogs, chips and water at No Charge to spectators.
We are looking for several volunteers to help us make this event fun and memorable as well as SAFE! Some of the volunteer roles include:
- Set up as needed
- Parking Lot Assistants
- Gate Attendants
- Race Team Support
- Concession Assistants
- Race Start and Finish Line Assistants
- Admin Help- with Crowd voting and other Misc jobs
- Grounds Clean Up
