Homeownership - Partner families (earning less than 80% area median income) work with Habitat
to purchase homes with affordable mortgages that represent no more than 30
percent of their household income. Upon acceptance, Homeowners in Process
complete up to 250 volunteer hours made up of financial training and coaching,
construction volunteerism and community engagement. Our extensive financial
education curriculum ensures buyers are well-prepared for successful
homeownership.
Critical Home Repair - Habitat Charlotte Region’s Critical Home Repair (CHR) program provides essential
repairs designed to address housing-related issues that threaten the health and
safety of income-qualified homeowners. Projects address and fix major structural
issues (roofs, framing, foundations), windows and insulation, plumbing and HVAC
systems. These repairs are intended to ensure homes remain safe and secure,
while also preserving affordable housing stock.
Financial Education - Prospective homeowners become mortgage ready by participating in Habitat’s
unique Pathways and Partners financial education curriculum. Topics covered include
household budgeting, credit building, investing, retirement, and much more.
