Who We Are

PVAC is a nonprofit organization that was started by the late Pete Meletis in 2012 and officially received a 501c3 status in 2015. In 2016, Statesville’s Veterans Transitional Housing Program, a collaboration PVAC initiated with Statesville Housing Authority and Fifth Street Ministries, came to fruition. Over 70 previously homeless Veterans have successfully transitioned through this program. PVAC has been transporting veterans to medical appointments and supporting veteran feeding programs since our conception and has worked diligently to improve the lives of as many veterans as possible.

M-F for drivers to transport to medical appointments. Drivers can volunteer whatever their schedule allows. It could be monthly, weekly or as needed. Schedule varies by the needs of veterans we serve. Veteran appointments are scheduled ahead of time, and we ask for a minimum of two weeks notice. There can be last minute requests, and we try to fill those, but only if drivers want to take the transport. Feeding programs vary by location. Occasional weekend events and attendance to support veteran services on our behalf. Social media, grant work and office work is welcomed by availability and can be done remotely.
