The historic Hugh Torance House & Store is looking for volunteers to serve as storekeepers in our historic museum gift shop. This volunteer opportunity is excellent for anyone whether or not you have an interest in history!
Volunteers will greet visitors, check-in tour guests, and assist our historic museum-turned local goods gift shop shoppers with item purchases during our weekend hours of operation. Volunteers are highly encouraged to dress in colonial costume while serving as storekeeper at our well preserved and maintained historical home and mercantile store!
The Hugh Torance House & Store, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is open on Sunday's 1pm-4pm starting in February and running through mid-December and provides guided living history tours of the circa 1779 homesite to both registered and walk-in visitors. Our volunteer team is an incredible group of dedicated citizens representing local and national historic groups like the Mecklenburg Historic Association and the Sons and the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as Hollywood and Broadway actors, local elected officials, high school and college students, retirees, and local performance artists. Join us to showcase and share the rich history of the Hugh Torance House & Store to ensure its preservation.
