DISASTER ACTION TEAM (DAT)
Our Disaster Action Team volunteers are critically important - not just to the Red Cross - but to our community. They are part of a team that responds to local emergencies, including home fires. They provide comfort, hope, and Red Cross services to those impacted.
During the response, volunteers provide compassion and connections to resources like financial assistance for lodging to those displaced from their homes. They may also provide community referrals and referrals to other Red Cross Services like Mental Health, Health Services, and Spiritual Care.
Time Commitment, Requirements, and Training:
- Disaster Action Team volunteers commit to being on-call multiple times per month. Shift times vary between 8-12 hours.
- Disaster Action Team Volunteers must also complete all required training courses, followed by 1:1 training.
