Do you enjoy sharing your historic craft and your love for knowledge of it with the community? We invite you to engage with HEARTS event guests and visitors at our living history events throughout the year!
Dressed in historically accurate period attire, you'll adopt a specific personas (one you've already made up or one can be assigned to you!) to engage our event guests and visitors through storytelling, hands-on demonstrations of traditional skills—such as blacksmithing, cooking, or textile production—and by interpreting daily life from the early years of Charlotte's founding. Beyond public interaction, volunteers assist with HEARTS' educational programming, support many of our FREE and open to the public special events, and they aid in maintaining the historic site authenticity of HEARTS' Affiliate sites, like the historic Hugh Torance House & Store, historic Cedar Grove, the historic Sharpe House, and so many more!
Volunteering with HEARTS Collaborative allows our nonprofit to offer high-quality, engaging experiences that foster community stewardship of local history!
