What We Do

Step back in time to 1779 and into the home of the traveling merchant, Revolutionary War soldier, and “King of Cotton” farmer, Hugh Torance, his wife Isabella Kerr Falls, and their son James G. Torrance. Talented docents lead guests on a guided living history storytelling adventure through the historic home which is tied to important American historical events, people, and other prominent local families who settled in Charlotte, NC prior to the Revolutionary War. A visit to the Hugh Torance House and Store offers an enriching experience for all ages, making it a remarkable destination for both education and enjoyment.
