TaxAide Counselors work directly with clients to prepare federal and state income tax returns. Counselors review the clients' tax documents, identify all income and applicable deductions and credits, enter data into TaxSlayer software using AARP-provided Chromebooks and review the completed returns with clients before e-filing.
Counselors need to be able to volunteer 2 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday and/or Friday) during tax season (February 1 - April 15). Extensive training is required. Counselors should enjoy working with people, have strong attention to detail, and be confident with computers (and vision good enough to work on a small laptop screen). Experience with tax software is a plus.
